Karen Story

Karen holds Masters Degrees in in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Clinical Family Therapy.

In addition to her post graduate degrees, Karen is a Registered Mental Health Care Social Worker who also holds teaching qualifications. Along with her private clinical practice, Karen has over 30 years experience in the public sector working with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), together with analysing and preparing pre-primary and secondary school programs for State Governments.

Karen has been extensively engaged at the Bouverie Centre, which is recognised in Australia and internationally as a leader in family therapy adopting ‘single session’ or ‘one at a time’ thinking as a productive framework for approaching comparatively straight forward as well as more complex issues affecting individuals and families alike. An experienced educator, Karen has delivered workshops and training sessions across diverse settings, and lectures at the graduate certificate and master’s levels.

Karen supervises clinicians and other professionals in the mental health sector. She has worked in the academic sector and she is co-author and trainer of the ‘Exploring Together’ program for children, adolescents, and their families. Karen is a trainer and facilitator of the ‘Tuning into Kids’ and‘Tuning into Teens’ programs, training and facilitating these programs throughout Melbourne and Victoria. Karen is also a trained Stillness Meditation Therapist.
